“HI,

I and my wife live in Saskatchewan , Canada , and my wife is terribly allergic to dogs and is an asthmatic.  We have both wanted a dog for a very long time but have been unable to own one, let alone my wife ever getting near one, without a trip to the emergency medic dept.

I got on line and found the Native American Indian Dog, the SiberCaan and the Siberian Indian Dog and were blown away by the fact that they were not only beautiful looking dogs but they had the claim to fame as being hypoallergenic.

I contacted the founder/creator of all 3 breeds, located in Michigan , USA , and sent her a SASE from UPS.   She was kind enough to send me hair swatches from a NAID, a 50/50 NAID/ Canaan Dog SiberCaan and a 75% NAID 25% Canaan Dog, SiberCaan.

She warned me though, that if my wife was allergic to a poodle or a schnauzer, that she would also probably be allergic to the NAID and the SiberCaan.

Early on a Saturday morning my wife and I went to an allergy doctor. I was personally scared to death.

First he taped all three hair swatches under my wife's nose, one at a time, to see if she had a reaction, and Nothing!!  Next he mixed each hair swatch in a special chemical/fluid and using a syringe and needle drew up the concoction and injected it into my wife's arm.   He circled each site with an ink pen and marked on her skin what kind/percentage of dog breed it was and then we waited..........  Absolutely no bump, or redness or swelling occurred and no asthma attack, even!!

I've got to tell you I am supposed to be a grown man, but I had moist eyes and was so overjoyed/over whelmed that we could finally own and love a dog, I think I floated out of the Dr.'s office.   I just wanted you all to know.      Jared”

“Good morning Karen,

I hope all is well and things are going good for you. I have an interesting story and a compliment paid our dog Luna which was far and away the best stamp of approval to date.

We went to Musikfest in Bethlehem PA. a week ago.  We weren’t aware that dogs were not allowed in the place. Basically, they shut down Main Street and an adjacent street below it for music, food and drink… Cultures from all over the World are there. The dog Nazis {police} stopped us halfway down Main Street and told us Luna was not welcome there and we’d have to leave. Having driven 35 minutes to get there and park a mile away just to walk in the heat to get to Main Street , we weren’t just going to turn around and go home. We opted to find a place to sit {unnoticed} and grab a bite to eat. We found a table big enough for my wife and I and 6 others to sit at. While we were sitting there perhaps 600 people walked by {maybe a lot of repeats} but about 45 people stopped to ask if they could pet her and to see her up close. All of them commented on how beautiful she is. She just got up each time looked the ones that crouched down to her, in the eye and basked in their attention.

I was watching every person approaching us to see what their reaction to her was going to be. Like I said, some stopped and asked all about her, others just kept walking by. The ones walking by would sometimes comment to us about Luna or to others in their group about her. I like reading lips especially when they don’t think we can possibly hear them. The one group that really impressed me the most was a group of 13 or 14 year old boys. Having been one myself back in the days of dinosaurs, I remember what it was like. My nephew is 15 so I see it up close too. Typically, boys of this age are NOT interested in complimenting anyone or anything. Instead it is the opposite, they are more likely to find the deformities or defects and take pride in making fun of them.

I watched this group of about 6 boys approach and one boy in the back reached forward and grabbed the two boys in front of him and pointed at Luna and said, “Oh my God! That is the most AWESOME dog I have every seen!!!” I told my wife immediately what he had just said and she was ear to ear smiles. Sometimes you wonder if people just say how pretty they think your dog is just to be kind to you when they couldn’t care less about your dog. I do it. I know people get so wrapped up in their dogs they think the World of them. One of our friends even made a FACEBOOK page for her dog!

I personally don’t like little dogs, but in an effort to stroke the owner’s pride in their dog I will ask questions about their dog even if I don’t absorb the answer. I typically take every compliment about Luna as being people just being nice. The ones that stop and get face to face with her and talk to her and ask all kinds of questions about her are the sincere ones. Yet this one boy’s comment really made my day/week/YEAR!!!! She is truly a spectacular dog, and she is exceptionally social which makes her all the talk of everywhere we go… People are usually intimidated by a dog her size, but they don’t seem to be worried one bit about her and approach her like she is still an 18 pound little ball of fur….

I’m just worried she’s going to turn into a Prima Donna or something because of all the compliments she gets… I will get some up to date photos for you over the next few weeks {hopefully when it gets cooler}. Until then, I thank you again.

Thank you so much…. I hope you have a great week.

            Jeff”
